The Benefits of Walking
Walking is one of the most unrated forms of exercise out there. Walking is easy on the joints, can be done easily and at no charge or no equipment needed. It can be done in any season and you can bring a friend to tag along with you.
Strengthens your heart
Walking is a cardiovascular exercise which means you are working out your heart and getting your blood pumping. Cardiovascular exercise is crucial to everyone yet some believe that means they have to be running. Walking is just as effective in this department.
Instead of grabbing for that extra caffeine or energy drink mid-day think about going for a walk instead. Walking increases oxygen flow throughout your body and increases the cortisol levels in your body which also helps to decrease stress.
Boosts your Mood
Getting outside and getting the heart pumping can do wonders for your mental health. Taking time to be present and enjoy your surroundings while doing something for your body can change your whole frame of mind.
Can be used as a creative outlet
It is amazing how many ideas can come to you while you are outside walking without distractions. If you feel as though you have hit a creative block, head outside without your phone and focus on being present.
Exercise doesn’t have to be an all-out sprint or a heavy weight lifting session. Find things you love to do and make them a habit. Walking for 30 minutes a day has been said to increase happiness and body positivity, try it out and see how you feel after a month of implementing it!
