We often look at taking care of ourselves as residing somewhere in our future and past.  The truth is we can only take care of ourselves right now.  We have plans to lose weight by eating a better diet or getting more exercise.  But contained within that previous sentence is both our past and future.  Our plans are always about the future.  Eating better or getting more exercise are a comparison to what we have done in the past.  When we make plans we aren't actually doing anything to take care of our self.  As we look to our future we are likely to have emotions about those plans, maybe optimism or maybe dread.  When we consider eating better it has us compare what we plan to do with what we have done in the past.  Again, emotions maybe guilt, frustration, or anger. 

 

If we want to take care of ourselves, it will only be in this present moment.  Making a change will be taking care of our self in this present moment, and this present moment, and this present moment.... How can you take care of yourself right now?  Maybe it will be to stand and stretch, take a cleansing breathe, go for a walk, acknowledge an emotion, or eat a nutritious meal.  Aligning yourself with this present moment is where the power to change happens, so look no further.
